I’m making my own electric guitar and thought i’d make some custom inlays down the fretboard. i need uncut mother of pearl so i can choose the pattern. where can i get some? and what are the prices?

I’m looking for a mother of peral shell to use for a craft project, does anyone know where i can get one? It needs to be already cut smoothly and flat. Thanks

I have been using sharp objects to scrape the calcium carbonate of the mother of pearl shell to get the shiny part and it’s tiring. It’ll take forvever to do the whole thing. I would like to know if there is another easy way to do this. Maybe some solution that will dissolve the calcium carbonate? Please help. . .

I just saw 2 of these paintings of ships, (ships look like old chinese sail ships) with castle that has spanish tiles on roof, and another with boats and lighthouse and storm.

I saw it on a bracelet when I was in Athens, Greece, and have been trying to figure out what it was. I remember being told that it wasn’t Mother of Pearl though.

My understanding is that Abalone is specifically either from Haliotidae or the genus Haliotis, but that Mother of Pearl (just being the nacreous secretion within a shell) can be from Haliotidae, the Trochidae and the Turbinidae genera.

Also, I thought that Abalone was generally more colourful, or is this just with specific types?
